Hat is trained in the field of child and adolescent behaviour, learning and mental health. Hat has worked as a Child and  Educational Psychologist for a Local Education Authority for over 20 years. For the past 10 years she has also worked for the LEA as a group psychotherapist. More recently, Hat has worked one day a week for three years as Lecturer in Educational and Developmental Psychology in Leeds University and one day a week for five years as a Group Therapist both in the NHS and for the Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service. Hat also works in private practice.

Hat is registered as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, a member of the Division of Educational and Child and Psychology (DECP) and is also a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP) and the U.K. Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

Hat offers help to children, young people and their families on a range of difficulties including the assessment & treatment of

• Emotional, social and / or behavioural problems
• Worries about school
• Low self esteem and / or poor motivation
• Developing social skills and peer group relationships
• Family difficulties
• Parenting advice
• Divorce, separation and blended families

Hat will also assess and advise treatment on a range of  learning disabilities and educational difficulties for school-aged children.

Hat has conducted  group work for troubled adolescents and younger-school-aged pupils. She runs a  regular group for parents and carers to discuss behavioural, social, emotional difficulties in their children
