Dr Linda Atterton MA, M.Phil. CPsychol Clinical and Neuropsychologist

I work actively towards spreading awareness about the effects of brain injury, especially the more ‘hidden’ disabilities and those problems which arise as secondary effects of organic deficits, which are unrecognised and either receive no assessment or rehabilitation or attempts towards rehabilitation which are often very late or not intensive enough.

Dr Kate Barker D.Clin.Psy Clinical Psychologist

I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist offering assessment and individual assessment to adults and adolecents aged 16 and over in Pocklington, York. I have experience of working with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, OCD, eating related problems, anger, personality problems, trauma and PTSD, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem / low confidence.

I have additional training in EMDR Therapy (Level one, two and three), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I am also experienced in using Mindfulness and CBT.

I work in an integrated way which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to offer an intervention that is tailored to you, after all we are all unique individuals and one size does not fit all. My approach is a balance of providing a safe space to listen, validate and help you understand yourself better, alongside introducing you to skills and strategies that you can use to help you manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviors differently. I offer short and longer term therapy.

I use the assessment process to consider with you what might help and how long this might take. You can then decide if you think I am the right person to support you through the process of change.I enjoy working with people and am continually amazed by the resilience of human beings to overcome adversity and make changes. I believe change can only happen if the relationship with the therapist feels safe and trusting.  My aim is to allow you to feel that you can use the time we spend working together to achieve your goals, working at a pace that feels comfortable to you and allowing you to come to a greater understanding of yourself and the problems you are having.

Sometimes people come to therapy with a specific issue that is causing them difficulty in the here and now, for example feeling anxious or low. For others it may be that they have noticed they are stuck in repeating patterns of behaviour that create problems for them and others around them. Equally, it may be an issue from the past that is troubling and will not go away that motivates individuals to seek help to make a change.

Dr Sarah Maclean DClinPsy Clinical Psychologist

My name is Dr. Sarah MacLean. I’m a highly trained and experienced Chartered Clinical Psychologist providing a professional psychology service in Essex.  I work with people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, personality disorder, relationship and interpersonal difficulties.  I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Emotional difficulties can be incredibly distressing to experience. I believe it is important to develop a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space for people to feel able to open and discuss the problems they face and the experiences they have been through. I take a down to earth and dynamic approach rather than just listening.  Within my practice, I work collaboratively with each person in order to help them to understand their difficulties and distress and work with them towards the change they seek.  This will depend on what that person expects from therapy, from finding solutions to problems to working through painful past or current issues. I am trained in a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy and Eye Movement Densitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) but I also work integratively, ensuring that the person’s needs are at the heart of therapy.  I want to work with people to help them to meet these needs in the shortest time possible.
